Configuring Solaris 7 and Solaris 8 to send and receive email on a dial-up connection
| www.kempston.net/solaris/ | www.kempston.org/solaris/ |
Most dial-up systems send outgoing mail to their ISP using SMTP and retrieve incoming mail using POP3. These pages describe the configuration of Solaris 7 and Solaris 8 for this typical case and cover the configuration of sendmail to send outgoing mail and the installation of fetchmail to retrieve incoming mail from a POP3 server.
A few ISPs, such as Demon Internet in the UK, deliver incoming email using SMTP and a page is also provided on the configuration of sendmail to accept incoming email.
